Playing one of the best regional golf courses in Western Australia is always fun. However unlike the title I did not beat Bunbury Golf Course. The course is always in great condition with the putting surface very true. The subtle breaks in the green can have your ball rolling further away from the hole than anticipated, which leads to an act of caution on the next stroke. The course is an easy walk, with some mounds and hills that offer great Tee off platforms. The signature hole Par 3 number 10 is only about 120 meters straight down hill. Not the easiest hole to determine what to hit depending on a prevailing wind, anything from a Sand wedge to a 6 iron. It pays to watch your playing partners to hit first.
So how can you have the best chance of beating Bunbury Golf Course? Even though there are some long Par4’s where a good drive helps, it is position that is going to set you up. Everyone has a favorite club they like to hit and feel confident with. My advice is try to hit your ball so you are using your favorite club to approach the green with. You need to be in a good position on the Green to give you the best chance of holing putts. You will have some anxious moments if you are 10 foot away putting down hill or if you need to chip onto the green from a downhill lie.
Make the time to play this great course and make sure you mention you are a Golf Downunder Card holder to get the best Golf rate.
